One airlifted from fiery crash

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — One person was airlifted from a fiery crash on Thursday afternoon.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — One person was airlifted from a fiery crash on Thursday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 6 p.m. on Farm-to-Market (FM) 987 just east of FM 2578 north of the Post Oak Bend city limits.

A pickup truck veered off the road and struck a metal pipe fence, several trees, and burst into flames. The driver was flown by CareFlite medical helicopter to a Dallas-area hospital in unknown condition.

The Kaufman Fire Department responded to the crash.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
