FORNEY, Texas — One person was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after a reported reckless driver overturned on U.S. Highway 80 on Friday night.
At approximately 10:45 p.m., the Forney Police Department received a reckless driver call from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office which advised of several 911 callers who witnessed a dark-colored SUV driving recklessly on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 entering Kaufman County.
Upon entry into the Forney city limits, those callers reported the vehicle overturned down an embankment between the highway and south service road — just east of Farm-to-Market (FM) 460.
No injuries were reported in the crash, which involved the single, dark-colored SUV, and the driver was later taken into custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
The south service road was briefly closed while a wrecker worked to recover the overturned vehicle from the ditch. As of 11:34 p.m., the south service road remains closed.
The Forney Fire Department, CareFlite, Forney Police Department, and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash.
The Forney Police Department is investigating.
