CRANDALL, Texas — One person was injured following a rollover crash on Farm-to-Market (FM) 148 on Wednesday morning.
The Crandall Fire Department, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, CareFlite, and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the crash just before 10:30 a.m.
An SUV was traveling southbound on FM 148 near Chapel Prairie Road when it veered into the southbound shoulder, over-corrected, and veered across the northbound lane where it overturned into the northbound easement — coming to a rest on the passenger side of the vehicle.
Melissa Lawson, a Forney Fire Department firefighter’s wife, was first on scene and was able to help the young driver out of the vehicle.
“I never travel on that road, ever,” Lawson told inForney.com. “I guess there was a reason why I was today.”
The driver was later transported to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, with what were described as minor injuries.
FM 148 was briefly closed while a wrecker recovered the vehicle.
