KEMP, Texas — One person was killed and two others injured in a fiery, head-on collision in southeast Kaufman County on Friday night.
At approximately 10:05 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety was notified of a major crash on State Highway 274 near County Road 4202.
Texas Department of Public Safety Staff Sergeant Kyle Bradford tells inForney.com, citing preliminary crash investigation, a Ford F-150 was traveling northbound on SH 274 when, for as of yet to be determined reasons, veered into the southbound lanes and struck a Dodge Ram head on.
The Ford F-150 and Doge Ram engulfed in flames as a result of the impact, according to police.
The driver of the Ford, identified by police as 53-year-old John Allen of Crossroads, Texas, was pronounced deceased on scene.
A father and son in the Dodge were pulled from the wreckage and airlifted to area hospitals with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.
DPS is investigating the factors which may have led to the crash.
