FORNEY, Texas — One person was injured Saturday night after driving down a U.S. Highway 80 embankment, striking a dumpster, and overturning near the Kaufman-Dallas County line.
The crash was reported just before 10 p.m. on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 west of the East Fork Trinity River.
A van was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 80 when it left the highway, traveled down the embankment, struck a dumpster on the south service road, and then struck a guardrail at the service road turnaround — causing the vehicle to overturn, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The driver of the vehicle was taken by CareFlite ambulance Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
The Forney Fire Department and Kaufman County Sheriff's Office also responded to the crash.
