TERRELL, Texas — One person was seriously injured and another was ejected in a rollover crash on State Highway (SH) 34 just south of Terrell on Sunday night.
Just after 6 p.m., first responders were dispatched to SH 34 in between Kings Creek Drive and Wright Street for a two-vehicle collision in which one vehicle overturned and one of its passengers was ejected.
A male driver, with a provisional license, attempted to pass a vehicle while traveling southbound on SH 34, Texas Department of Public Safety Staff Sergeant Kyle Bradford told inForney.com. That vehicle clipped another vehicle which sent it sideways into the northbound shoulder.
The vehicle overturned and a female passenger, who was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. The vehicle then struck a barbed-wire fence.
Bradford says the male driver was seriously injured and transported to a Dallas-area hospital where he is expected to recover. The female sustained non-life threatening injuries and other superficial injuries to the face, according to Bradford.
SH 34 was closed to both northbound and southbound traffic for approximately two hours while DPS troopers conducted a major crash investigation. SH 34 has since reopened.
