TERRELL, Texas — An overturned 18-wheeler forced the closure of both eastbound and westbound Spur 557 on Wednesday night — a short distance from where an 18-wheeler overturned last night prompting a similar closure.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the 18-wheeler was traveling eastbound on Spur 557 when he lost control on the wet roadway, drove into the median, and overturned — forcing the closure of both eastbound and westbound.
The crash occurred at approximately 10 p.m. and emergency personnel on scene expect to have the highway closed for several hours as they work to offload the trailer which is loaded with light fixtures.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated and released on scene.
Last night, approximately 100 feet from tonight's wreck, an 18-wheeler overturned and caused the closure of westbound Spur 557 for several hours.
