FORNEY, Texas — A Kaufman County Precinct 2 Constable's Office deputy was uninjured after striking a horse on U.S. Highway 175 early Thursday morning, according to Constable Jason Johnson.
FORNEY, Texas — A Kaufman County Precinct 2 Constable's Office deputy was uninjured after striking a horse on U.S. Highway 175 early Thursday morning, according to Constable Jason Johnson.
Johnson tells inForney.com the deputy was on his way to work around 5 a.m. Thursday when he struck the horse on U.S. Highway 175.
The deputy saw three horses on the side of the highway when a fourth, dark-colored horse ran onto the highway, he said.
The horse was pronounced deceased.
Johnson says the deputy avoided any injuries. All the airbags in the patrol vehicle deployed and the vehicle was totaled.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash. The owner of the horse may face charges for unsecured livestock.
