TERRELL, Texas — A pedestrian was airlifted after being struck by a train in the early morning hours of Tuesday, according to authorities.

Around 3 a.m., the Terrell Police Department responded to the a call of a person struck by a train just east of County Road 309, near Ham Orchards.

Upon arrival, police officers discovered the man lying next to the train tracks, responsive, with an apparent fractured right arm, Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom tells inForney.com.

The man was airlifted by CareFlite medical helicopter to a Dallas-area hospital with what was described by police as non-life threatening injuries.

Firefighters from Terrell and Elmo also responded to the scene.
