ELMO, Texas — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 80 in Elmo on Friday night, according to police.
The crash occurred at approximately 8:32 p.m. on U.S. Highway 80 near Farm-to-Market (FM) 2728.
Texas Department of Public Safety Staff Sergeant Kyle Bradford, citing preliminary crash investigation, tells inForney.com a Dodge Ram 4500 was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 80 when the adult female pedestrian crossed the highway.
The driver of the Dodge Ram attempted to swerve to miss the pedestrian but was unable to avoid the collision, according to Bradford.
A Kaufman County Justice of the Peace has been requested to the scene.
The woman's name was withheld Friday night while troopers notified next of kin.
