FORNEY, Texas — The City of Forney, in conjunction with the Forney ISD Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) hosted the third annual Veterans Day ceremony at the Mick Spellman Amphitheater on Saturday, November 5, 2016.
FORNEY, Texas — The City of Forney, in conjunction with the Forney ISD Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) hosted the third annual Veterans Day ceremony at the Mick Spellman Amphitheater on Saturday, November 5, 2016.
Forney Fire Department Chaplain Mark Elliot led the invocation to begin the ceremony followed by the posting of the colors by the Forney ISD AFJROTC Color Guard.
The National Anthem was sung by the Forney High School Choir under the direction of Scott Surface and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Forney ISD AFJROTC Cadet Captain Sara Redwine.
City of Forney Mayor Rick Wilson welcomed the many attendees of the event before guest speakers Forney ISD AFJROTC Cadet Major Logan Barajas and District 2 Senator Bob Hall spoke.
The Forney ISD AFJROTC then held a flag folding ceremony followed by TAPS played by Forney High School student Devin Runnels and North Forney High School student Jesse Morgan. The Criswell Elementary School Choir, under the direction of Troy Hawkins, also preformed a patriotic melody.
