KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Red Flag Warning for Kaufman County due to extreme fire weather conditions.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Red Flag Warning for Kaufman County due to extreme fire weather conditions.
The Red Flag Warning is in effect until 6 p.m.
"Gusty northwest winds and dry air will result in critical fire weather conditions along and west of a Sherman to Terrell to Mexia to Temple line," according to the NWS.
"Please avoid outside burning and welding," stated the NWS. "Do not toss lit cigarette butts outside. Report wildfires to the nearest fire department of law enforcement office quickly."
A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and dry vegetation can contribute to extreme fire behavior, according to the NWS.
