FORNEY, Texas — A reported reckless driver overturned his truck on westbound U.S. Highway 80 on Saturday afternoon as police were attempting to stop the vehicle.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., the Forney Police Department received a report of a reckless driver on westbound U.S. Highway 80. Police officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop when the vehicle went off a drainage culvert on the shoulder of the highway just before the Kaufman-Dallas County line and overturned at low speed, according to emergency officials.
The driver was transported to a Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, with what were described as minor injuries.
The crash forced temporary lane closures on westbound U.S. Highway 80 and traffic backups of nearly a mile.
The Forney Fire Department also responded to an unrelated grass fire on Sherwood Lane just south of Forney and Farm-to-Market (FM) 2757. The fire burned approximately half an acre to three-quarters of an acre of grass.
