TERRELL, Texas — A single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 20 on Thursday afternoon turned fatal for a Fate, Texas, man who was ejected from his vehicle, according to police.

TERRELL, Texas — A single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 20 on Thursday afternoon turned fatal for a Fate, Texas, man who was ejected from his vehicle, according to police.

At 5:08 p.m., a vehicle was traveling westbound on Interstate 20 when it overturned underneath the Wilson Road bridge, according to Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom.

The vehicle's single occupant, later identified as 22-year-old Payton Zielinsky of Fate, Texas, was ejected, according to Sansom. Zielinsky was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 6:04 p.m.

The crash forced the closure of eastbound Interstate 20 at Wilson Road and traffic was being diverted onto the service road. Additionally, the inside, left lane of westbound Interstate 20 was closed while accident investigators were on scene.

The Texas Department of Transportation was requested to assist in traffic diversion off the highway.

The Terrell Police Department, Terrell Fire Department, CareFlite, and accident investigators responded to the scene.
