FORNEY, Texas — Two separate wrecks on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 are causing major traffic delays on Friday night and resulted in the driver of the initial wreck being taken into custody.
FORNEY, Texas — Two separate wrecks on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 are causing major traffic delays on Friday night and resulted in the driver of the initial wreck being taken into custody.
The first wreck was reported at approximately 6:38 p.m. on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 near Farm-to-Market (FM) 460 and involved a single vehicle which went into the center median and struck the median cables.
As of 7:32 p.m., crews are working to free the vehicle from the cables.
The driver of the vehicle was detained and later arrested.
The second wreck was reported just before 7 p.m. on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 near the Dallas-Kaufman County line in the backup of the original wreck. Three vehicles were involved in the second wreck.
EMS was preparing to transport at least one injured from the second wreck. Its unknown, at this time, if there are any other injuries.
As of 7:33 p.m. traffic is backed up through Sunnyvale and into Mesquite.
The Forney Fire Department responded to both wrecks and requested the Sunnyvale Fire Department and EMS for assistance in the second wreck.
