KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Kaufman County until 9:15 p.m.
The warning, issued at 8:33 p.m., is for portions of southern Kaufman County.
“At 8:32 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near cottonwood, or 13 miles west of Gun Barrel City, moving northeast at 35 miles per hour,” stated the NWS bulletin.
Hazards include 60 miles per hour wind gusts and penny size hail. Potential impacts include damage to roofs, siding, and trees, according to the NWS.
The thunderstorm will be near Seven Points around 8:40 p.m. and Mabank and Kemp around 8:50 p.m. Other locations impacted by this severe thunderstorm include Oak Grove, Rosser, and Payne Springs and areas of Interstate 20 between mile markers 510 and 511.
“For your protection, get inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows,” stated the NWS.
