KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for most of North Texas, including Kaufman County, on Tuesday afternoon.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for most of North Texas, including Kaufman County, on Tuesday afternoon.
At 2:40 p.m., the NWS issued the watch which will remain in effect until 10 p.m.
“A round of thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and continue into the evening hours,” according to the NWS. “The greatest coverage of storms will be south of I-20, but a few isolated storms may also develop north of I-20 as well.”
“The atmosphere is very unstable today, but there is not a lot of wind shear which means the primary threat will be large hail and damaging winds, but a brief tornado cannot be ruled out,” stated the NWS.
This evening, the damaging wind potential looks greatest in the darker red shaded area of the above image.
