“Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are possible area-wide throughout the day today,” according to a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued Tuesday morning by the NWS. “A few storms may become strong but at this time severe weather appears unlikely.
Severe weather chances increase overnight as thunderstorms become more organized and push through our region.
“Activity will occur mainly north of the I-20 corridor tonight,” stated the NWS. “A few of these storms could become severe with damaging winds and large hail.”
The tornado threat is low but cannot be ruled out, according to the NWS. Heavy rain is also likely to lead to localized flooding and hail remains a threat.
The storms will continue south of Interstate 20 into Wednesday morning with a few storms having the potential to become severe and localized flooding is likely with any heavy rain.
Late Wednesday, another round of storms is expected to develop northwest of the region and move southeast across the area Wednesday night and into Thursday, according to the NWS.
“It looks like a few severe storms will remain possible along with brief heavy rain and isolated flooding,” the NWS stated of the Wednesday storms.
Highs on Friday and Saturday are expected to be in the upper 70s and 80s.
Thunderstorm chances will return Sunday night and into Monday.
