KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas issued to Significant Weather Advisories (SWA) for portions of Kaufman County for two clusters of strong thunderstorms.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas issued to Significant Weather Advisories (SWA) for portions of Kaufman County for two clusters of strong thunderstorms.

The first SWA was issued for southeastern Kaufman County until 2:30 p.m. for a cluster of strong thunderstorms located seven miles northeast of Kemp, or 11 miles southeast of Kaufman, which were moving southwest at approximately 10 miles per hour.

The storm is expected to impact the areas of Kaufman, Gun Barrel City, Mabank, Seven Points, Kemp, Grays Prairie, Cottonwood, Purtis Creek State Park, Oak Grove, Post Oak Bend City, Rosser, and Oak Ridge.

Heavy rainfall, winds of up to 45 miles per hour, frequent cloud-to-ground lighting, and minor flooding are possible with the storms.

The NWS advises anyone on the northern portion of Cedar Creek Reservoir to head to shore and get away from the water.

The second SWA was issued for portions of northeastern Kaufman County until 2:15 p.m. for a cluster of strong thunderstorms over Lake Tawakoni State Park moving southwest at 15 miles per hour.

The same weather conditions exist with these storms and boaters on Lake Tawakoni are also advised to get off the water.
