KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The Kaufman County Fire Chiefs’ and Firefighters’ Association will sponsor a silent auction and fish fry will be held in May to benefit a Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office deputy fire marshal and his family.

All funds from the event will benefit Deputy Fire Marshal John Garvin and his family in medical expenses related to his wife’s cancer diagnosis and treatment.

The event will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will be hosted by the Kaufman Fire Department at the Kaufman Fire Station which is located at 301 South Madison Street in Kaufman, Texas.

“Although John and Amber have insurance, their portion of the medical expenses and out-of-pocket expenses have been overwhelming,” stated Kaufman County Fire Marshal Randy Richards in an email. “John and Amber have three beautiful children and live here in Kaufman County.”

Garvin is also a volunteer firefighter in Kaufman County.
