FORNEY, Texas — Six-year-old Ava Davis was recognized by the Forney City Council on Tuesday night for her “charitable spirit” and donation to the Forney Animal Shelter.
Davis, wanting to help the animals of the shelter, started a lemonade stand in her neighborhood to raise funds for the animal shelter, according to Mayor Rick Wilson who presented Davis with a Certificate of Appreciation during the council meeting. Davis then donated those funds to the animal shelter.
“For your charitable spirit, your time, and dedicated efforts on behalf of the animals at the Forney Animal Shelter,” stated the certificate. “You are a wonderful inspiration to others.”
Davis received a standing ovation from those attending the council meeting including her parents, sibling, and grandparents.
