A cold front and howling winds may make way for the wintry mix with temperatures plummeting behind the cold front in the afternoon hours.
Wind gusts are expected to reach between 20 and 30 miles per hour which will provide for very chilly wind chills later in the day across the northwest half of the North Texas area, according to the NWS.
"In addition, some brief sleet and snow will move across the area between 2 and 8 p.m.," stated the NWS. "Some minor accumulations and a few slick spots are possible, though widespread impacts are not anticipated."
"A few flurries may linger across northeastern counties later in the evening."
"Prepare accordingly and wear layers when heading out later Thursday and Thursday night to protect against the bitter cold wind chills," stated the NWS.
