FORNEY, Texas — The South Chestnut Street railroad crossing is schedule to be closed on Monday, May 9, 2016, at 9 a.m., according to the City of Forney.

The closure is required to make improvements to the crossing for the ongoing quiet zone project.

“While this is an inconvenience for residents, the crossing will only be closed for a short period of time and will be re-opened as soon as possible,” stated the City of Forney.

The Elm Street crossing will be reopened before the Chestnut Street closure, according to the City of Forney.

The overall project is expected to be complete with final Federal Railroad Administration and Union Pacific Railroad inspections and approval by July, weather permitting, according Forney Public Works Director Chris Metz.
