CRANDALL, Texas — A Crandall Police Department officer delivered a baby earlier today after responding to a residence in Heartland on a medical 911 call for a woman reported to be in labor.
"Upon officers’ arrival and assessing the incident, it was found that the woman was in deep labor and it was apparent that the baby was on the fast track and had decided NOT to wait for the ambulance to arrive on scene," read a statement from the Crandall Police Department on Facebook.
"Officer Riccelli took quick action and delivered the baby girl," read the statement.
The mother and daughter were later transported by CareFlite ambulance to an area hospital and are both reportedly doing great.
After quick assessment at the hospital, the family reports the baby girl weighed nine pounds and measured 19 inches.
"Congratulations to the parents on the birth of their daughter and “Great Job” to Officer Riccelli!" stated the Crandall Police Department.
