KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Strong to severe storms are expected Wednesday afternoon and evening for portions of central and east Texas, including Kaufman County, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas.

Wednesday afternoon and evenings storms will be ahead of a cold front that may bring an opportunity for wintry precipitation during the overnight hours and into Thursday.

"Damaging winds would be the main hazard," stated the NWS. "Farther north in North Texas, severe weather appears unlikely."

"There is still quite a bit of uncertainty regarding if or where any significant accumulations may occur," stated the NWS. "More details should become ironed out in the coming days, so check back for forecast updates for your area."

Should any accumulations occur, holiday travelers should expect delays on area roadways.
