KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A man, reportedly suicidal, suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound during a brief standoff with police in the Ola-area of Kaufman County on Thursday afternoon.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A man, reportedly suicidal, suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound during a brief standoff with police in the Ola-area of Kaufman County on Thursday afternoon.
Around 1 p.m., the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office received a call of a suicidal person in a vehicle on County Road 103, Kaufman County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jolie Stewart told inForney.com.
"The individual was reported to have a pistol," she said.
The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office and other emergency personnel responded to the scene where SWAT negotiators made contact with the man via telephone.
The man later shot himself and was flown to a Dallas-area hospital by CareFlite medical helicopter. His condition is unknown at this time.
Around 4 p.m., sheriff's office investigators and crime scene units began clearing the scene.
