Terrell Firefighters endorse Lecroy for new department chief

TERRELL, Texas — The Terrell Professional Firefighters Association announced their official endorsement of Terrell native Shane Lecroy to the position of Chief of the Terrell Fire Department today.

TERRELL, Texas — The Terrell Professional Firefighters Association announced their official endorsement of Terrell native Shane Lecroy to the position of Chief of the Terrell Fire Department today.

In an association statement released to inForney.com, Derek Hill the Association’s president says they are excited about the opportunity to have Lecroy to serve at the helm of their department.

“The Terrell Professional Fire Fighters Association is excited to announce it’s endorsement of Shane Lecroy for the position of Fire Chief. This comes after a series of discussions with the top five candidates selected by the City of Terrell,” Hill said. “Our association is excited about the future for Terrell Fire Department and we are patiently waiting the announcement from the City of Terrell of the new fire chief.”

Lecroy, with nearly 30 years of fire experience currently serves at the Assistant Chief of the University Park Fire Department.

If hired, Lecroy would fill the vacancy left by Jim Harper who retired from the department in September 2017 after 40 years in the fire service. Harper had served as Chief in Terrell since 2002. The position would also be one of the last major hires expected by outgoing city manager Tory Edwards.

Terrell Fire Captain and Fire Marshal Tom Cooper has served as the city’s interim chief since Harper’s retirement.According to officials at Terrell city hall, an announcement on the hire of the new chief are “pending”.

The Terrell City Council meets tonight at 7PM for their regular scheduled meeting in council chambers. The fire department position was not included as part of the posted agenda.
