Investigators say a grill being used inside the house is the likely cause of the fire.
Just after midnight, on Friday, the Terrell Fire Department responded to the home in the 10900 block of Farm-to-Market (FM) 148 just south of Davis Lane. Mutual aid was requested from the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department and the Forney Fire Department.
Upon arrival, firefighters reported the home and a vehicle were fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters took a defensive attack due to the fire’s condition.
The home and vehicle were completely destroyed in the fire.
Terrell Fire Department Fire Marshal Captain Tom Cooper says the home did not have electricity at the time of the fire and the resident was using a wood or coal-fired grill or stove inside the home which is the likely cause of the fire.
