TERRELL, Texas — A Terrell man was injured in an accidental shooting on Tuesday night and airlifted to a Dallas-area hospital.
At 9:03 p.m., on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, the Terrell Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Houston Street on a report a man accidentally shot himself.
Police say the man had a derringer-style pistol loaded with .410 buckshot when it accidentally discharged while secured in the front waistband of his pants.
The man suffered gunshot injuries to his groin and inner thigh and was transported by CareFlite ambulance to the Terrell Municipal Airport where an awaiting CareFlite medical helicopter further transported him to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
No foul play was suspected in the shooting incident.
The man was convicted of a felony in 2015 and will now likely face charges for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, according to police.
