TERRELL, Texas — A Terrell man was killed overnight in a motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 80.

Just after midnight, on January 27, 2018, police say a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound in the 4000 block of West Moore Avenue, also known as U.S. Highway 80, when it struck the rear of a 2016 Volvo truck-tractor that had slowed to turn right into a business.

A witness told police the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it traveled through the intersection of West U.S. Highway 80 and State Highway 205, according to Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom.

The impact of the collision wedged the motorcycle in between two of the truck-tractor's rear tires.

The motorcyclist, identified as 58-year-old Richard Lynn Weatherby, was pronounced deceased on scene.
