TERRELL, Texas (Terrell Police Department) — On Thursday, September 1, 2016, the Terrell Police Department Patrol Division and local businesses, including Buc-cee's, QT, and Whataburger, will begin the Good Citizen Appreciation Program or GCAP.
The GCAP Program is a simple program where police officers, who recognize good citizens during their daily shifts, can contact the citizen, recognize their contribution to the community and then give them a simple gift of coupons for free drinks, meals and even a "Beaver" bracelet.
The purpose of the program is to allow police a positive contact with citizens who exercise safe and defensive driving mannerisms while driving, do a good job alerting police to suspicious behavior observed in their neighborhood or who otherwise simply do a good deed in the city, especially those that make the police department's job easier. Police state they will be handing out the gifts to individual citizens, while supplies last.
The police department will be contacting other businesses in the area to allow others the opportunity to participate, as they deem appropriate. The Terrell Police, as well as the participating businesses, are very appreciate of the citizens of our community and wish to express thanks to them for helping us do the job!
So, be on the lookout for a police officer expressing his thanks, as well as giving you a small gesture of appreciation for being a good citizen. We will not get to all the good citizens, but we will do our best to say "thank you" to those that we can.
Terrell PD appreciates the support of local participating businesses in this program. If a business wants to participate, but has not been contacted yet, please contact Forensic Investigator Ericka Angel Spence at 972-551-6622, extension 299.
