FORNEY, Texas — Three Forney Police Department police officers have been evaluated and released from a local hospital after a brief submersion during a water rescue, according to the department.

FORNEY, Texas — Three Forney Police Department police officers have been evaluated and released from a local hospital after a brief submersion during a water rescue, according to the department.

Around 10:04 p.m., the Forney Police Department and Forney Fire Department were dispatched to a vehicle in the water on the north service road of U.S. Highway 80 near Summerhaven.

"During the rescue, three officers became submerged for a short time while saving the individual from her vehicle," read a statement from the department.

The officers were able to safely rescue the woman who did not receive any injuries requiring transportation to a hospital. However, the three police officers were transported to a local hospital for evaluation and observation. They were reported in stable condition prior to their release from the hospital.

Kaufman County remains under a Flash Flood Warning until 4 a.m. and a Flood Watch until 9 a.m. October 28, 2023.
