KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for portions of North Texas, including Kaufman County, until midnight on Friday.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for portions of North Texas, including Kaufman County, until midnight on Friday.

The following counties are included in the watch area: Archer, Clay, Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Delta, Denton, Fannin, Grayson, Hopkins, Hunt, Jack, Kaufman, Lamar, Montague, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rains, Rockwall, Tarrant, Van Zandt County, Wichita, and Wise.

"There is a threat for severe thunderstorms mainly northeast of a line from Jacksboro to Granbury to Waco to Hearne," states a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the National Weather Service. "Hazards include damaging winds, large hail, as well as isolated tornadoes. The risk for tornadoes will be highest to the north and east of the DFW Metroplex where wind shear and instability are greatest."

On Saturday, an elevated fire weather threat is expected generally west of the I-35 corridor.
