FORNEY, Texas — A train and car collided at a downtown Forney crossing on Monday afternoon.
The collision occurred just after 1 p.m. at the South Bois D'Arc crossing in downtown Forney.
Witnesses tell inForney.com a car was stopped on the tracks, with vehicles bumper to bumper, when the train approached, blared its horn, and struck the car.
The collision was described as slow-speed — much like a train-car collision just last week at the FM 548 crossing in Forney.
The FM 548 crossing was closed today while Union Pacific crews asphalted the crossing.
Motorists should expect major delays traveling north-to-south through Forney. The Chestnut Street, Elm Street, and Center Street crossings remain open.
