Truck crashes into utility pole, outages reported to approximately 2,500 people

FORNEY, Texas — A pickup truck struck a utility pole just north of Forney on Friday morning resulting in nearly 2,500 Farmers Electric Cooperative (FEC) customers losing power.

FORNEY, Texas — A pickup truck struck a utility pole just north of Forney on Friday morning resulting in nearly 2,500 Farmers Electric Cooperative (FEC) customers losing power.

The wreck was reported at approximately 7 a.m. in the 15000 block of Ranch Road just north of the city limits of Forney.

The pickup truck left the roadway, for yet to be determined reasons, and struck a barbed-wire fence and utility pole. A nearby transformer blew and caused several small grass fires.

Shortly after the crash, FEC reported 2,491 customers were without power in the area which extended to the Windmill Farms area and north to State Highway 205. FEC estimates a 10:18 a.m. restoration time.

Although it was initially reported one person was transported to an area hospital, ultimately, no injuries were reported.

Power was restored just after 9 a.m. Utility crews remain on scene on Ranch Road.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the case of the crash.
