COLLEGE MOUND, Texas — Two people escaped serious injury Thursday night after striking a utility pole, snapping it, and overturning, according to firefighters.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:49 p.m., in the 5000 block of Farm-to-Market (FM) 2727.
"The SUV was SB on FM 2727 when it crossed the NB lanes, left the roadway and rolled," stated the College Mound Fire Department on Facebook. "As it rolled, it struck a utility pole snapping it in several pieces."
Upon arrival, firefighters observed the SUV upside down and the utility pole, transformer, and power lines on the ground.
"The SUV had been occupied by a man and woman," stated the department. "Luckily they escaped serious injury and were able to crawl out of the wreckage before emergency personnel arrived."
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
TVEC responded to the scene to restore power while firefighters provided additional traffic control and scene safety.
