TERRELL, Texas — Two people have been injured in a major, multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 near Terrell which forced the closure of the highway on Thursday afternoon.
The crash was reported at approximately 12:30 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 20 near mile marker 495, just west of Farm-to-Market (FM) 148 and the Terrell city limits.
A Chevy 3500 pickup truck was hauling a trailer when it hit the rear-end of a truck-tractor — causing it to strike two other vehicles, Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Kyle Bradford told inForney.com.
One of the pickup truck's occupants was pinned in the vehicle, extricated, and flown to a Dallas-area hospital, according to Bradford. A second occupant was transported by ground ambulance to Baylor, Scott & White Hospital in Sunnyvale, Texas, with minor injuries.
Eastbound Interstate 20 was closed at FM 1641 where traffic was diverted off the highway.
According to Bradford, the wreck should be cleared and the highway reopened in approximately an hour.
