KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Two people were injured in a single-vehicle crash in eastern Kaufman County early Sunday morning.
Around 6:45 a.m., the College Mound Volunteer Fire Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, and CareFlite responded to the intersection of Farm-to-Market (FM) 429 and FM 2727 for the crash.
A motorists called 911 to report a crashed vehicle in a field near the intersection, according to College Mound Volunteer Fire Department spokesperson Terry Van Sickle.
“Firefighters arrived to find the damaged car occupied by two men,” he said. “The driver had suffered serious trauma and a CareFlite helicopter was requested.”
The driver was airlifted to a Dallas-area hospital and the passenger was transported by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital.
The vehicle appeared to have been traveling on FM 2727 when it failed to stop at the t-intersection with FM 429, crossed FM 429, struck a ditch, and traveled through a fence before coming to a rest in a pasture.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
