KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — UPDATE [Nov. 12] — The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified two people killed in a head-on collision yesterday north of Mabank.

The driver of the Jeep, identified by police as 20-year-old Jeremy Lee Case, and a passenger, identified as 18-year-old Everett Rains, both of Mabank, Texas, were pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

ORIGINAL [Nov. 11] — Two people were killed and another was injured in a head-on collision earlier today north of Mabank, Texas.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:50 p.m., on Monday, November 11, 2019, on Farm-to-Market (FM) 90 near County Road (CR) 4007, just north of Mabank and east of Kemp.

A black Jeep Renegade was traveling northbound on FM 90 and a grey Ford F-150 was traveling southbound when the Jeep, for as of yet to be determined reasons, lost control, traveled into the southbound lanes, and struck the Ford head on, Texas Department of Public Safety Staff Sergeant Kyle Bradford told, citing preliminary crash investigation.

The driver and a passenger in the Jeep were pronounced deceased at the scene. At the time of press, police had not released the identification of the deceased.

The driver of the Ford was transported to Athens Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Bradford says the investigation remains ongoing.
