Two sustain minor injuries after engine failure, emergency landing on Airport Road

TERRELL, Texas — A pilot and their passenger sustained minor injuries after an emergency landing situation near the Terrell Municipal Airport late last night.

TERRELL, Texas — A pilot and their passenger sustained minor injuries after an emergency landing situation near the Terrell Municipal Airport late last night.

At approximately 11:50 p.m. on January 29, 2024, the Terrell Police Department received a 9-1-1 call in reference to a reported airplane crash in the 2300 block of Airport Road.

There, police say a Cessna fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft had departed Terrell Municipal Airport and lost engine power. The pilot attempted an emergency landing on Airport Road.

The pilot and passenger sustained minor injuries in the landing and have both since been treated and released.

The Terrell Police Department and Terrell Fire Department responded to the initial call-out. The Texas Department of Public Safety is securing the scene until the arrival of the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board respond to further investigate.
