TxDOT to host public meeting in Forney on Interstate 20 improvements from Lawson Road to Wilson Road

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas (Texas Department of Transportation) -- The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will conduct a public meeting for proposed improvements 20 from Lawson Road to County Road 138 (Wilson Road) in Dallas and Kaufman Counties, Texas, a distance of approximately 20.4 miles.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas (Texas Department of Transportation) -- The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will conduct a public meeting for proposed improvements 20 from Lawson Road to County Road 138 (Wilson Road) in Dallas and Kaufman Counties, Texas, a distance of approximately 20.4 miles.

The meeting will be held on September 12, 2017, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Forney High School, located at 1800 College Avenue, Forney, TX 75126. Representatives from TxDOT and project consultants will be available to answer questions about the proposed project. Displays and project information will be presented at the public meeting. The meeting will be conducted in an open house format with no formal presentation.

The proposed improvements to IH 20 would add continuous one-way frontage roads in both the eastbound and westbound directions from Lawson Road to County Road 138. The frontage roads would consist of a 12-foot wide inside lane and a 14-foot wide shared outside lane. A 5-foot wide sidewalk will be included in the eastbound and westbound directions behind the back of the curb. The proposed improvements would also include the reconstruction and relocation of existing exit and entrance ramps from Lawson Road to County Road 138. The existing IH 20 interchanges would be reconstructed to accommodate cross street improvements.

Maps depicting the proposed project's location and preliminary geometric design will also be on file and available for public inspection between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the TxDOT Dallas District Office (4777 East Highway 80, Mesquite, Texas 75150); TxDOT Kaufman County Area Office (2750 South Washington, Kaufman, Texas 75142);and Terrell City Hall (201 East Nash Street, Terrell, Texas 75160).This information will also be available online at www.keepitmovingdanas.com under Upcoming Public Hearings/Meetings.

All interested citizens are invited to attend the public meeting. Written comments from the public regarding this project are requested and may be submitted either in person at the public meeting, by mail to the TxDOT Dallas District Office, Attention Ms. Denise Lunski, P.E., 4777 E. U.S. Highway 80 Mesquite, TX 75150 or by email to denise.lunski@txdot.gov. Written comments will be accepted for a period of 15 calendar days following the public meeting and must be postmarked on or before September 27, 2017 to be included in the Public Meeting Summary.

The public meeting will be conducted in English. Persons interested in attending the meeting who have special communication or accommodation needs, or need an interpreter, are encouraged to contact the TxDOT Dallas District Public lnformation Office at (214) 320-4480 at least two working days prior to the public meeting.
