FORNEY, Texas — U.S. Highway 80 in Forney reopened early Monday morning following a fatal, multi-vehicle crash Sunday night which forced the closure of multiple lanes on both east and westbound sides of the highway.
FORNEY, Texas — U.S. Highway 80 in Forney reopened early Monday morning following a fatal, multi-vehicle crash Sunday night which forced the closure of multiple lanes on both east and westbound sides of the highway.
An initial crash was reported just before 10:30 p.m. on westbound U.S. Highway 80 near the Farm-to-Market (FM) 460 exit. Officials say a man involved in this crash fled on foot and was struck on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 by another vehicle.
At least two vehicles were involved in the initial crash on westbound U.S. Highway 80 and at least one vehicle was involved in the pedestrian-related crash on eastbound U.S. Highway 80.
Officials say the man who was struck and killed was pronounced deceased at the scene by Kaufman County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Johnny Adams. The man's identity has not been released.
Eastbound 80 was reopened at 1:09 a.m.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the man was later transported to Lake Pointe Medical Center in Forney, Texas, with what were described as minor injuries.
A request for additional information has been made with the Forney Police Department. This is a developing story.
