Update: Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for Kaufman County until 5 a.m.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Tornado Watch for a majority of North Texas, including Kaufman County, until 10 p.m. Friday. UPDATE: The Tornado Watch has been allowed to expire and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued until 5 a.m. Saturday.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Tornado Watch for a majority of North Texas, including Kaufman County, until 10 p.m. Friday. UPDATE: The Tornado Watch has been allowed to expire and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued until 5 a.m. Saturday.

A few tornadoes are likely throughout the watch area, according to the NWS. Primary threats also include scattered large hail with isolated large hail events with hail of 2.5 inches in diameter possible.

Damaging winds up to 70 miles per hour are also possible.

“Thunderstorms are beginning to develop in multiple bands across Central and North Central Texas,” the NWS stated. “The storm environment will be favorable for sparkles with large hail and potentially a few tornadoes this afternoon as well as a few damaging gusts.”

“Storm coverage will increase through the afternoon and the severe weather risk should connote into this evening,” stated the NWS.
