Vehicle crashes into power pole causing power outage, two injured

FORNEY, Texas — A vehicle crashed into a power pole overnight causing a power outage in the area south of Forney.

Just after midnight, a vehicle traveling on Farm-to-Market (FM) 740 veered off the road and struck a power pole on Cimarron Trail.

The Forney Fire Department, CareFlite, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the crash.

Approximately 30 homes are without power due to the crash which snapped the power pole that feeds underground utilities to residents on Cimarron Trail. Trinity Valley Electric Co-Op crews are on scene.

Two people in the vehicle were transported to area hospitals in unknown condition.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.

It’s unknown how long the power will remain out in the area.
