The family of Jones released the following statement on Friday:
"Words alone cannot express the sudden loss and sadness our family has experienced this week. Many of you knew Chad as a public servant who did his best to serve Kaufman County, which he did proudly for many years. To our family he was a proud and loving father to four daughters and a son. He was a loving and devoted husband, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin. His abscence has already been felt and will be for many years.
Chad’s life was cut too short, however his legacy has already touched our family. We have received unbelievable love and support from the citizens of Kaufman County, the law enforcement family, countless friends and perfect strangers. There is no doubt Chad touched many and now his kindness is being returned to his family.
We would like to thank those of you who have reached out to our family with thoughts, prayers, food and comfort. We ask for your continued prayers in the weeks and months ahead."
