TALTY, Texas — Westbound Interstate 20 has been closed in the Talty area after an 18-wheeler struck the cable median late Sunday night.

Around 11:40 p.m., the Mesquite Police Department was notified of the crash on westbound Interstate 20 just east of the Helms Trail exit in the Talty area. The 18-wheeler was traveling westbound when it veered into the median and took down the cable median which entangled with the truck-tractor.

The 18-wheeler’s fuel tank was reportedly punctured and carrying 300 gallons of fuel. It was later determined that a quantity of less than 25 gallons may have leaked from the tank.

Two heavy-duty wreckers are on scene attempting to winch the truck-tractor and trailer back onto the highway simultaneously.

The highway was closed at the Helms Trail exit and traffic is being diverted onto the north service road where it can reenter the highway at Farm-to-Market (FM) 2932.

The Mesquite Fire Department, Forney Fire Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety also responded to the crash.

No injuries were reported in the crash.
