KAUFMAN COUNTY - As winter weather arrives in North Texas, many Kaufman County schools and municipalities have announced closures.
Forney ISD, Terrell ISD, Crandall ISD, Kaufman ISD, Mabank ISD, and Scurry ISD are closed on Thursday, and some districts have already announced Friday closures.
City offices in Forney, Kaufman, and other cities are closed on Thursday.
Terrell residents can visit the Terrell Police Headquarters when they need a warming station.
The National Weather Service provided a forecast for Kaufman County on Thursday that calls for rain, sleet, and snow showers throughout the day and night. The forecast also calls for about an inch of ice accumulation and a possible 1-3 inches of snow overnight. Temperatures are expected to hover around 30 degrees overnight, meaning that all precipitation will likely freeze.
Friday’s forecast shows the winter weather clearing out west to east, and daytime high’s expected to be in the upper 30s.
