Kaufman County Jail Sees Busy Day of Releases
A total of 14 individuals were released from Kaufman County Jail on January 27, 2025, according to a report printed the following day. The releases involved a variety of charges, bond amounts, and release conditions, painting a picture of the diverse legal issues addressed by the county’s justice system.
Wide Range of Offenses
The individuals released were facing a multitude of charges. These included:
•Violating Bond/Protective Order
•Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of 0.15 or higher
•Possession of Marijuana less than 2oz
•Criminal Use of Personal ID Information, which was later replaced with two charges of Theft of Property between $100 and $750 and Uttering a Counterfeit Instrument.
•Indecent Exposure
•Duty on Striking Unattended Vehicle
•Theft of Property, with some charges involving property valued between $750 and $2,500 and others with property valued between $100 and $750
•Indecency with a Child involving sexual contact
•Injury to a Child/Elderly/Disabled Person with intent to cause bodily injury

•Possession of a Controlled Substance in penalty group 1/1-B less than 1 gram
•Driving While Intoxicated/Open Alcohol Container
•Possession of a Controlled Substance in penalty group 2 less than 1 gram
•Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
•Driving While License Invalid
•Theft of Property with a value between $100 and $750.
Bond Amounts and Release Conditions
The bond amounts varied considerably depending on the severity of the charges. Some of the bond amounts included:
•$10,000 for violating a bond/protective order
•$5,000 for possession of marijuana
•$5,000 for indecent exposure
•$12,000 for duty on striking unattended vehicle
•$2,000 each for two charges of theft
•$20,000 for burglary of building
•$10,000 for evading arrest
•$1,500 for unlawful carrying a weapon
•$5,000 for possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1
•$1,500 for driving while intoxicated
•$5,000 for possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 2
•$500 for possession of drug paraphernalia
•$500 for driving while license invalid
•$750 for theft of property.
Some individuals were released after posting bond, while others were released to other agencies. One individual was released to an out-of-state pickup in Florida. One individual was released after receiving a sentence of 90 days in jail. Another individual received 50 days in jail and had served his sentence. Prior to conviction all defendant released are presumed innocent.
