Mesquite PD investigating homicide of 17-year-old, reward offered for information

MESQUITE, Texas — The Mesquite Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a 17-year-old on Saturday night.

Mesquite police are seeking the public's assistance for information in this homicide and the Crime Stoppers are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment.

At approximately 8:42 p.m., on October 14, 2017, police were dispatched to the 3200 block of Kensington Drive in reference to sounds of gunfire, according to Mesquite Police Department Lt. Brian Parrish.

"Upon arrival, officers located one gunshot victim, Isaiah Deanthony Jones 17, of Mesquite," he said.

Overton was transported to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, where he later died from his injuries.
