MESQUITE, Texas — Mesquite police say a man shot and killed his mother and sister before killing himself in an apparent murder-suicide early Thursday morning.

At approximately 6 a.m., on Thursday, September 10, 2020, the Mesquite Police Department received a 911 call from a woman who claimed a man, later determined to be her husband, had a gun inside a residence in the 600 block of Little Bend. The woman told police she ran outside when she heard sounds of gunfire inside the residence.

Arriving officers attempted to make contact with the residents inside the house but received no response, forced entry, and located three persons.

According to police, evidence at the scene indicated 32-year-old Marcus Vasquez shot and killed his mother, 55-year-old Ronda Vasquez, and seriously injured his sister, 29-year-old Rayshell Vasquez. Rayshell was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
